Metal matrix composites (metal matrix composites), referred to as (MMCs) is a metal and its alloys as a matrix, and one or more metal or non-metallic reinforcing phase artificially combined into a composite material. Most of the reinforcing materials are inorganic non-metals, such as ceramics, carbon, graphite and boron, etc., and can also be used with metal wire. It and polymer-based composites, ceramic-based composites and carbon/carbon composites together constitute a modern composite material system.
Pollution Hazard
During the manufacturing process of metal matrix composites, particulate dust is generated on the surface of the material, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are generated during the annealing furnace operation. The organic matter is mainly ammonia, a colourless gas. It has a strong irritating odour and can burn the skin, eyes and mucous membranes of the respiratory organs. If a person inhales too much of it, it can cause swelling of the lungs and even death.

Waste gas treatment process
Organic waste gas is collected through pipelines and purified by entering dry filtration to remove harmful gases and particles. After purification, the gas is introduced into the RTO regenerative incinerator, which heats up the organic waste gas to 760 degrees Celsius, so that the organic waste gas is burned between 760-860 degrees Celsius, and purified and oxidised into harmless carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapour (H20) at high temperature, and then discharged into the atmosphere in compliance with the standards. At the same time, 95% of the thermal energy can be recovered.
Other treatment technology solutions
Low concentration and small air volume of metal matrix composite waste gas can be used: spray tower, uv photolysis purifier, activated carbon adsorption and other single or multiple combinations of processes for treatment;
High concentration of small air volume metal matrix composite waste gas can be used: pretreatment + zeolite molecular sieve + catalytic combustion, pretreatment + zeolite molecular sieve + RTO thermal storage incinerator, a single catalytic combustion device or a single RTO thermal storage incinerator and so on;
High concentration and large air volume of metal matrix composite waste gas can be used: pretreatment + zeolite rotor concentration + catalytic combustion or pretreatment + zeolite rotor concentration + RTO thermal storage incinerator and so on.
